Bennett is quite simply the greatest movie villain of all-time. No other baddie comes close to equaling the sheer evil genius conveyed by Vernon Wells, in his most memorable role. Bennett trained under John Matrix as part of an elite special forces unit in the United States Army. For insubordination, Matrix had him thrown out of his unit and he became a ruthless mercenary. Now, he kills for the highest bidder. That bidder is Arius, and Arius needs John Matrix’s expertise to reclaim his nation of Val Verde. Only one man can snare Matrix, and that God of a man, that absolute legend, is Bennett.

Before his career as an actor, Vernon Wells was a quarry worker and a salesman. He then worked extensively in theatre and rock bands before being noticed by casting agents, and started to appear in Australian TV commercials, print ads, and local TV shows. Wells was then fortunate enough to be cast as “Wez”, a psychotic, post apocalyptic gang leader who relentlessly pursued Mel Gibson in the big budget Mad Max 2 (1981). He then spoofed his mad biker role in the popular teen comedy Weird Science (1985), before taking on another villainous role as the treacherous ex-soldier “Bennett”, who foolishly double crosses Arnold Schwarzenegger in Commando (1985).
